In a word: compelling. By far one of the most unique books I've ever read. I couldn't guess a single thing that was going to happen, and I didn't want to either. It was a wild, gruesome ride that I couldn't get enough of, like an accident I couldn't look away from. It was also so funny? The darkly humorous tone perfectly fit the story and made the horrifying details easier to swallow. Highly recommend giving this one a read if the TWs don't bother you.

Quite a unique book but not my cup of tea. More than once I got bored and wanted to dnf it, but a lot of people said it would be great so I pulled through.

I’m rating the first 2/3 of the book a 5/5 stars. So original and dark and quirky and fun and addicting. But then something happened .. it felt as though ai had accidentally skipped a bunch of chapters.

Spoiler alert: turning Steve into the Sun was fucked up and I hated it. She should have resurrected Father.. released Steve and returned Petey to him.. which would have led her to experience a selfless joy and then she could have turned herself into the Sun. The (better) end.

Wow. This book is bananas. And violent, gory, dark, and funny. I loved it. The writing is really good, and the story is wild. While reading it, I realized that maybe what my reading life needs is more fantasy/sci-fi/New Weird (a genre I only heard about because I looked deeper into read-alikes after finishing this book). Who knew?
