I wanted to read this book because I loved the movie I still love the movie but as it usually happens the book is almost completely different.

This was my first time reading a translated classic I was surprised how easy it was to read and how incredibly fast paced the book was. It reads almost as a YA. The speeches are wonderful.

I am not giving it 5⭐️ because the use of narrator was not consistent and I also didn’t feel like the reveals of Dantés were as good as the could be or that Edmonds perception of revenge was well defined in the end

ngl tho I wanted him to die tragically at the end, not decide that he was right for all the horrible things he did to the families, not just those he swore vengeance upon. But we don’t always get what we want or deserve, eh, Dantes?
