Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
This was definitely not as good as the first book in the series. I understand the concept of making this story a trilogy, with each book focusing on each brother. But while reading, it felt like Maya Banks wrote Ewan and Mairin’s story and then figured it could be milked if she wrote about the other brothers as well. The romance wasn’t as developed and the intimate scenes felt more like “just throw it in there because you can” erotica as opposed to advancing the plot or serving as character developing elements like the last book.
Alaric McCabe, brother of Ewan, is on his way to the lands of his betrothed (Rionna) to meet her and also like, get married? He's ambushed on the way and winds up in the cottage of Keeley, a banished healer from Rionna's clan. This is historical romance so obviously they fall in love and this is Maya Banks so obviously they have lots of weird, delirious, super sick people sex.
Reflection
Keeley reads like an off brand Mairin. Alaric is fine but I think there could have been more focus on his battle being torn between love and duty. I honestly believe I would have been happy with an “unhappy” ending. The characters just don't have the depth that I was hoping for and this book seems to put more weight into the "erotica" portion of her writing here than anything else which was disappointing. I think that this particular story had more opportunity to dive deeper than the others have and it didn't take that chance.

My faith in Rionna took a dip but rose again stronger. I was mad at Alaric for neglecting his duties but the heart wants what it wants. Had a fun time with it.
İlk kitaptan çok daha güzeldi, gerçi ilk kez gördüğün bir adamı yaralı da olsa çat diye öpmezsin Keeley'ciğim ama napalım kurgu buymuş
I LOVED THIS BOOK. the 2nd book in series is even better then 1st. Alaric sets off to McDonald land to ask for his future wife's hand but instead lands in front of Keeley injured and needing care but while caring for stubborn warrior sparks fly. This book brought me to tears. Couldn't believe the emotion it brought out in me, especially at end with Alaric. Awesome story kept me gripped till end. Fantastic HEA just hope the last brother gets his.

This book will not change your life but it is spicy and entertaining! Good mind fluff if you’re wanting that!
OMG i dont think i've cried so much or so hard over a book in ages... when i tried this series i knew it would be hott, passionate, and interesting as all Ms. Banks's are but i had know idea she could make me again fall in love with historicals. I find i cannot get enough now. I am positively dying for the release of the final story (next week on my bday no less!!) and you can bet my copy will be in my hand and waiting to be read that very day. She's done it again and conquered a whole new world of writing. Go MAYA!!!
LOVED this. (Which is surprising because Banks' contemporary romances are not enjoyable to me)
Keeley is so so wonderful. She pushes back whenever someone tries to force her to do something against her will. She's incredibly independent, but also so in need of friends and people to love/comfort her. That juxtaposition is one of my favorite things about her. And to see how Alaric just goes all doe eyed for her...it's just wonderful!
