such a great series! loved them all!

4.25 stars.

Listened to this on audio book. I really love the narrator she does a great job with these books.

I liked this one better than the first, a lot better.

I loved both Keeley and Alaric, together and apart. My only complaint for this book was that it took Alaric
Spoilersooooo long to call off the wedding to Rionna. And it took Keeley jumping in front of him to save his life to get him to call it off...while he was at the altar with Rionna. Ugh.
Other than that I love them.

Can't wait to read the next one.

Review to come

Love love love this book. I'll never get tired of reading it and no matter how many times I've read it, I will always cry at the end LOL.

It’s so Slut!

This was my favorite so far. I loved Alaric in Ewan's book ... that he would step up and agree to marry Rionna for the good of his clan is honorable.

The road to HEA for Alaric is an emotionally gutwrenching ordeal. It's been a while since a book had me crying for the characters, but Alaric's choices totally suck, and watching Alaric and Keeley deal with their situation literally had me in tears at one point.

Really great story with drama and action in all the right places.

I can hardly wait for Caelen's book. He's the most totured of the brothers, and it looks like he's going to have his hands full with his twice-rejected bride.

I read this in about two and a half hours. Need I say more? I'm off to the next one now.

Way too gushy, mushy lovey for my taste. I skipped over lots.
emotional tense medium-paced

So like my review of the first book in the series I stated I didn't want to rush into this series since they are/were my last Highland books through Maya Banks until book three in M&A. Well my control is shoddy so I finished the trilogy within a few weeks. This is the second book in the series and my favorite of the three!

The story follows Keeley, an outcast of her clan, and Alaric, the middle brother of the McCabes. When Alaric is on his way to wed Rionna of the McDonald Clan, he was attacked. Keeley found him and nursed him back to health before both were taken to the McCabe keep. There they danced around each other and fell in love all while dealing with the fact Alaric was promised to Rionna.

I really loved the first one in this series and I was eager to jump right into this one. In this case I was floored. I'm not an emotional reader but this one really had me tearing up. The feelings between the two characters knowing they were ultimately doomed was mind-blowing. I found myself getting more and more upset as they tried to have a relationship while they could before they lost each other. I rarely get choked up but this one...this one is making my top ten of the year (I bet).

Alaric (first, awesome name) was a swoon-worthy Highlander. He was strong, sexy, and all sorts of loving. He fell in love with Keeley so effortlessly and knew she would always be the one in his heart even if he married Rionna. He recognized his soulmate but couldn't let go of his word. He promised to marry Rionna and he intended to do just that. It was nice to see a man who valued his word so much.

Keeley was a sigh-worthy Highland lass. She made her own way in the world when her clan turned their back on them. She didn't let anyone keep her down but she struggled with loving a man destined for someone who meant a lot to her. Although she couldn't stay away from Alaric she was ready to sacrifice her happiness for a sister of her heart AND the man she loved.

I won't ruin the climax of the story but it was a beautiful, beautiful scene. I was riveted to the book throughout the last 100 pages as the issues came to the forefront and resolutions were found. I rarely find myself unable to describe how a book made me feel but this one floored me. I didn't want it to end but at the same time I wanted that happily ever after. I'm thrilled there is a third book to give me a little more of Keeley and Alaric even though they aren't the main characters.

Seriously, check this one out!!
