This book is what I call effective fiction - the kind that is clearly fictional but so immersive that you just get wrapped in the story and the characters. It may seem like nothing but I find that many books nowadays fail that mark.
I enjoyed a lot that thrilling romance, full of some of my favourite tropes: poor-abandoned-heroine (but not helpless!), dutiful-noble-hero, forbidden-impossible-love, meant-for-another, one-night-to-remember (and more
I swear I clicked this off as read back when I read it.... well hey, I enjoyed it so much that it's worth doing it again ; )
So it's been awhile since I read this. I remember thoroughly enjoying it though. Perhaps I need to redo it in Audio format?
I don't like everything Maya Banks does. Not a fan of BDSM, although it is hard to avoid now-a-days. But one thing you can count on with Maya Banks is an undercurrent of romance, even if you feel like fast forwarding through some of the sex. These highland novels though, don't have the problem. The spicy stuff is just there to garnish the romance. Love it!! Always a satisfying HEA.

I LOVED ALARIC AND KEELEY !!! Toward the end I cried it was a VERY GOOD book!! I loved ALL the characters they were all AMAZING!!
I wish it had not just ended the way it did I DEFINITELY WANTED MORE!

4.5 Stars! I'm really surprised by how much I'm enjoying this series.
A bit boring compared to the first book but I did like it especially the last few chapters. I'm glad there was more about Mairin from the first book. She remains my favorite character in the series.
