So I basically marathon-ed the first two books in this trilogy this morning. Do I regret not getting any sleep by reading all the books? No. No I don't.
This one was shorter, seemed more rushed than the first one, and there was basically very little plot. Just Keeley wandering if she should bang Alaric even though he's going to become a "married man". Would I consider this cheating? Maybe a little but it didn't seem that know of the parties involved called foul.

This is book 2 in the McCabe trilogy. I believe this can be read as a standalone, but I deeply encourage you to read book 1 first.

I am seriously loving this series.

Keeley is an outcast from her clan. Living on the edge of town all alone ceases many challenges. So imagine her fear when a handsome man shows up at her doorstep unconscious and on the brink of death. Luckily for this man, Keeley is somewhat of a healer.

Nursing him back to health, the Clan that this man belongs to shows up to collect what’s theirs. Keeley is taken back with them to their land not only to get answers out of her, but they are in need of a healer themselves.

Keeley and Alaric have an undeniable chemistry and from the very beginning you are routing for their happiness.
dark emotional sad tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Loveable characters: Yes

The book’s not bad but why are the titles so wretched?

I really liked Keeley. I think there were some things in this book's plot I could see coming a mile away but there were still some plot points that could have been "tighter" for lack of better working vs expecting us to fill in blanks - my biggest example would be
why did rionna never visit Keeley to just tell her she believed her but she can't see her anymore? or just something other than not ever saying anything to her for forever many years even though she knew exactly where she lived and could send people to her....idk seems like a weak friend on rionna's part lol

Ok anyways Alaric was cute bc he is a nice "golden balance" of his two brothers as the middle child. I like how he fell in love and was genuinely trying to just do the right thing and
even thought i knew it was a romance and it damn well needed a happy ending i was crying when Keeley was hit by the arrow to save him bc his despair honestly filled me with despair too so 10/10 on that climax
sad tense

Audiobook was excellent.

loved! loved! loved this book. It had me in tears and I couldn't put it down. I liked the first book in this series, but this one outdid it. I can't wait to read the 3rd.

I think I may have enjoyed this one a bit more than the first. The ending almost broke my heart and I’m excited to read the third one.

Bawled like a baby in this one.
