I'm not sure how to review this. Time travel, a boiled egg, lilac and the myriad ways every day objects can be put to use. Perhaps I'll come back with a better review later. Until then, read this. You won't regret it.

In my opinion, Pratchett’s crowning glory. I have read this innumerable times and each time I get goosebumps.
After a magical accident, Samuel Vimes is given an opportunity to change an horrific event in history - only it’s not that easy.
This can be read as a stand-alone, but it helps if you know a little of the backstory. I think Vimes is the most human character on the Disc. When we meet him in his first book (Guards! Guards!) he is literally in the gutter, now he is a Duke, Commander of the City Watch and he is fighting the system from within.
Pratchett uses the Disc to mirror and parody Roundworld problems and his writing truly resonates with life today. He writes with passion and well-placed humour which always brings a tear and a smile (sometimes simultaneously).
