Oh. My. God. Such a heavy book compared to the previous Terry Pratchett books we've read previously. But I can see where people say that PTerry held so much righteous anger and he gave a lot of that anger to Vimes in this particular book. We listened to the audio for it and that did help us connect with all of the characters we know and love from previous City Watch books, and it made me absolutely HATE Carser....wanted to drop kick that man so much and just....gah!

Really enjoyed this! Despite it being so late in the series, I found it a much easier introduction to Discworld than the Colour of Magic so I think I might go back and read the rest of the City Watch saga. Vimes is an interesting character, and it was fun to have two of him so you could really see how he’d changed over the years. He went through some great character development in this book, really enjoyable to read. The book is just really funny as well, a really well-made story that knows when it needs to be serious but has some very very good laughs in there as well.
