I don’t think it’s possible to talk about Starlight without spoilers, so be warned: SPOILERS AHEAD for Starlight and the series.
This book is the one I have been waiting for since Feather ripped my heart out. I had so many emotions reading this book and though I ended up appreciating the book, I had to sit with my emotions for awhile afterwards before tackling a review. Beware, I’m pretty sure my opinion differs greatly from most reviewers. This isn’t intended to bash the book or the author but it is my honest opinion.
While ultimately a happy ending, it is not a straightforward romance. The souls of the two main characters are a continuation from Feather but the author makes it clear they aren’t those people anymore. I applaud the author for keeping the people in Starlight separate from those in Feather even though I myself would have liked the soul connection and even their memories of their past life to be more of a focus in the story. Balancing the two stories had to be a difficult task; connecting things to Feather but also writing a new, younger story for new, younger characters. I wasn’t prepared to read a YA book though, and this definitely felt more like a YA book to me. Since Feather and Celestial were decidedly not YA, I wasn’t prepared for the change and was left a bit unfulfilled by the story. I almost wish the author had set the story after they main characters had gotten their wings, so they were older, rather than while they are trying to get their wings and making so many bad decisions. Many choices made by the main characters felt too juvenile to me. It definitely fit the age of the characters but it wasn’t fun to read at times.
The story also has a lot of violence, most of it unnecessary and some of it almost cartoonish in how unbelievable it is. The loss of life in this book was a little too much to take in at times and the storyline was almost too far past the bounds of believability. I more than once wondered why so much carnage was necessary. All the over the top violence and contrived danger made it very hard for me to connect to these characters, who I desperately wanted to like but never quite do. When I liked the characters the most it was when they displayed the echoes of their characters from Feather. Adam and Naya weren’t as likable for me and I think it’s because not a lot of time is spent in establishing who they are as people. What time we do see them they are making impulsive, selfish decisions that don’t make them really all that endearing.
Starlight throws its main characters into many difficult situations but unlike in Feather, the main characters aren’t star-crossed. In many ways the romance between Adam and Naya is way easier and it’s almost a relief that they don’t have to fight for their love. It was bittersweet to see what should have been for Jarod and Leigh. I do wish a little more time had been spent developing the romance between Naya and Adam, however. So much happens in the book around or to them that the plot leans pretty heavily on their soul connection to further their love story. They don’t get a lot of actual romantic time together and what time they do get fell a little flat for me.
While I have highlighted what I didn’t care for, overall I did like Starlight. Adam and Naya have a beautiful future ahead of them. It was bittersweet but it almost couldn’t have been anything else, seeing as these two souls have already endured so much to be together. The author is a wonderful story teller and has a beautiful way with words. Some descriptions in the books are almost haunting. The world of Elysium and the characters she created are rich and compelling. I will still recommend this series and this book to others.
Feather will remain one of my all time favorite books. I had high expectations for this book and though it did not ultimately deliver what I wanted, it’s still a solid book by a fantastic author.
I did receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Gah. I cannot say enough good things about this series! I absolutely adored it. It literally just makes my heart so happy and I truly enjoyed every single book. But, this one, this one I think is my favorite. We got to see Adam and Naya's story, their whole story play out. And I adored it so much. I love all the little pieces from previous books that were sprinkled in. And I love watching the characters grow and develop, and past characters, and new characters. Truly this series was just spectacular, it gave me everything. Humor, love, loss, growth, and a truly beautiful happily ever after!
Okay, so because I wanted this spoiler when I was looking through reviews halfway through the book, and couldn’t find one, I’m adding it here. Before I get to that, this book was quite good. Definitely way longer than it needed to be, but every book in the series felt that way, and definitely predictable in terms of the key points. Still, I was fully engaged in the series and enjoyed my read. Spoiler ahead…okay, if you’re looking through spoiler comments trying to figure out if your internal red flags are right by telling you not to trust a certain individual who shares his name with a type of bird (minus the e) then you would be right. He isn’t to be trusted. I saw it from a mile away, and kept getting annoyed that they didn’t question his motives. And then, boom! I knew it!
** This is a spoiler-free review of Olivia Wildenstein’s Starlight, however, this review will contain spoilers for Feather and Celestial, the first two books in Wildenstein’s “Angels of Elysium” series.**
This book was freaking everything!!!! In Starlight, Olivia Wildenstein has created an absolute masterpiece, and a beautiful way to wrap-up what very quickly became one of my all time favourite series’.
Set 18 years after Feather, and 14 years after Celestial, Starlight follows Fletchings Naya and Adam, the re-incarnated souls of Feather’s Jarod and Leigh. Never have I ever been more happy to read a dual POV.
Naya is exactly like Leigh, sweet, caring, and willing to do anything to save her sinners’ souls. In Adam we get to see what Jarod may have been like had he been taken to a guild upon his mother’s death. He is snarky, grumpy, and wholly charming in a dark and handsome bad-boy way.
One of my favourite things about Starlight was watching Naya and Adam battle their emotions for each other. Neither of them wants or understands the way they feel about the other, and as someone who witnessed their souls’ first courtship, it is exceptionally amusing and charming.
Wildenstein takes the sweet and caring romance to the next level with Adam. Like for real, where can I get one? He so deeply cares about Naya, and he is so incredibly pissed off about it, but he can’t help going out of his way to care for and help her (but he will complain the entire time).
Starlight is beautifully written, stressful as hell, and made me aggressively swoon on more occasions than I care to admit. Also, we get to check up on some of our other favourite angels, namely Asher and Celeste, and it is delightful being able to witness how far they have come!
I seriously am having to hold myself back from immediately diving into a series re-read because I have so many books on my TBR it is insane.
If you liked the first two books in the Angels of Elysium series, then Starlight is an absolute must. Seriously, do not skimp out on this book. And if you haven’t read any of the books in the series, then I cannot recommend them more. They are romantic, action-packed, and full of steamy scenes that will leave you wanting more and more! So for real, go read it. Like, now.

Fantastic end to an excellent series! I love the complexity of the angelic language and how the author builds the world of Elysium to be so vivid. This book had a huge amount of action that felt like a snowball building and building until the climax at the end. The epilogue was beautiful and I loved that it tied all 3 books together. I'm a sucker for a 'found family' troupe and this one gave me all the feels
I don't know what's up with me and these books cause I always like only the first half then get bored gradually. After the plot point was resolved, I was done with the book tbh. Also , them doubting each other and looking to find feathers on the ground then directly connecting physically is weird for me. Maybe I am really not into soulmate stuff like the man couldn't wait for a week here. I know it's fantasy but it grated on my nerves especially when both are independent and they will live for literally hundreds of years.
Overall, Loved the plot and the world but strangely enough the romance and the characters (mainly main couple tbh) are what was weak/irritated me.

First off.. Naya now being a mother to who was once her older bff was hard to get around. The author tried to make it feel normal too but... i couldn't get over it.
I also miss Jerod and Leigh. Adam was kinda an ass and Naya was too prissy for me. Im glad I read the series but nothing will live up to Feather.

This is the conclusion to the Angels of Elysium series, Adam and Naya, fated lovers story. I really enjoyed them, I love paranormal romance and this one had great world-building and angels. Definitely loved the twists and emotional side of the story. I loved each character, so worth reading. Would love to see it on audiobook one day, totally deserves it.

pues me gusto pero definitivamente amé más el segundo
This book was a great ending to this series, i totally loved the narrators in this one.
The whole series was great actually, it was an interesting take on the angelic side of things which I enjoyed. The only thing that I struggled with was the length, the books were long.
If you are after an extra spicy book this series doesn’t have it, but it does have romance. (A couple of spicy scenes)
Angels, reincarnations, emeries to lovers, sole mates
