3.5 rounded up. I hated the MC - she was just incredibly unlikeable and seemed to be unaware of basic polite human interaction. The side characters were all great though.

I wanted to like this book so much more than I actually did.
The concept was amazing, but the delivery fell flat for me. I had to push myself to finish this book because I found the main character wildly insufferable.
I loved the plus size representation. I loved the idea of thinking the love interest might be a serial killer. I loved the healing and dealing with her personal trauma.
But the execution of all of it together felt a bit rambling and annoying at times.
And she made the male love interests say boobs during a smut scene which gave me the ick immediately.
I finished this book, but begrudgingly.

Fun, unique, and full of information about serial killers. This was a fun book to read. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I am very interested in checking out more of her work.
Phoebe’s struggle with dealing with her childhood trauma, her fear of putting herself out there, being vulnerable, or asking for help was so relatable to me. I loved seeing her open up to Sam throughout the book, grow her relationships with her brother and his girlfriend, and even repair her childhood friendship with Allison.
Phoebe’s dark humor and self depreciation had me laughing throughout the book, and the sweet moments with Sam had me giggling.

2.5-3/5 ⭐ I really wanted to love this one but it was so boring. 🫣
