I didn't enjoy this one. Besides having a misleading title, the romance itself was without any kind of spark or chemistry.
First off, there aren't any serial killers or murders. She is writing her dissertation on serial killers so the ancient ones are mentioned from time to time, but it wasn't even in an interesting way. Maybe if I've read some reviews before, I would have found this out and not bought the book.
The fact that on the cover it says: Can true love survive her true crime obsession? was also misleading. She is obsessed with true crime in a weird paranoid way, and it's so obvious that he neighbor is truly a nice guy. She is always exaggerating and never trusting. I didn't like her from the first pages because of her rude behavior.
Maybe it just felt strange, having to acknowledge that he was a real person with a past and a present and a life beyond the little snippets I observed and pretended I could draw conclusions about.
I only read it for the male character, Sam, and his kind words and attitude. There were also some funny moments involving a cat.
The truth was that I had been alone for a while. But it had always been the way I liked it, where i called all the shots and I was responsible only to myself. It never felt lonely.
