Little Knife is another folklorish tale under the Grishaverse umbrella. The structure and whole atmosphere of it is just like an old fairytale. The twist in the end was well written too. Can't say that it adds anything to the main trilogy though, but one might benefit from having a prior experience with Grish in order to read this one.

Though shorter and a little less engaging than the others, the message gained from Little Knife is no less potent than those of the previous short stories: disrespect the natural world and you will regret it--which I think is especially relevant to the present time. As humans, we're at the top of any chain among the living beings of the world and as such think we're immune to any sort of punishment the rest of it dishes out. Earthquakes? No problem, we'll just rebuild. Hurricanes and floods? We'll just rebuild. Fires? Rebuild. Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild.
Maybe we should stop rebuilding for once and pay our respects to the rest of the natural world, instead of focusing on our own greed and wants. One day, nature might finally decide it's had enough.

I find that the short stories and novella from the world of the Grisha are often better than the novels. This one is fantastic.

Loved it, I'm so glad that Leigh Bardugo, wrote these companion folk tales and I'm surprised, that I didn't found out about them earlier, wish there was more where this came from. Like a hardcover collection of ravkans folk tales? Or maybe not only but a chapter for Ravka, one for Fjerda and so on? *dreaming of a better life*
