Detailed review coming soon.
lighthearted medium-paced

I truly did like this story. However, Miranda is this brilliantly intelligent woman that just lets Turner walk all over her. I wish she made Turner deal with his shit quicker. Even with the ending we got I still can't quite feel like he's still not over the circumstances of his first marriage. He never has a come to Jesus moment with Miranda about why it's so difficult for him to delve into his heart and tell her how he feels. (Sure, part of her knows that it's due to his failed first marriage, but he owes it to her and their marriage to discuss it.)

I blame the Fated Mates podcast for making me buy this and read it tonight. It was charming but also one of her more emotional ones.

Many other reviews have mentioned this, but the Turner was not a likable character at all. He was aggressive and a bully. See other reviews for more details.

Muy emotiva.

i think he should be executed??????????

I love Julia Quinn's stories. Was it predictable? Sure, but that's what's so great about comfort food equivalent books. Miranda was funny and charming and wonderful. Could she have been a little more assertive? Sure, but again she's 20 in the 1800's. Was Turner an ass? Most definitely, but isn't that what always happens in historical romance? Meet, conflict, have sexual attraction, more conflict, realization, happily ever after. The end.

So glad I bought the others in this series at the same time so I can continue living with the Bevelstokes awhile longer.
