I’m not a huge fan of the asshole hero who later grovels trope, but if you are, this is probably more for you than me.

Not one of the author's best. The hero is insufferable for most of the book, but at least the heroine gives him a black eye.

I will try to write a short one. But it is so hard! But ok I will try. And yes I did read book 2 before this one. Do not be shocked now (looking at someone stating with an M ;). But they are stand alone historical romances so you do not have to read in order.
This book was just sweet and lovely. Again a book that is just how I like my HR. The heroine is Miranda who is not as pretty as her best friend but then again she has been in love with her best friend’s brother for 10 years so what does she care about other men ;) Miranda was smart and funny. All in all a great girl. Her best friend Olivia likewise (but then I already read and loved her book). Our hero is Turner who is not like he used to be. He had a bitch of a wife who cheated on him and the poor guy is jaded. And yes he does take his time to fall for her and tell her what he feels, but he was in pain and he was afraid. I can live with that because I always knew he would realize she was his everything.
This book is witty and cute. There is one scene where he threw a scone at her and that just made me laugh. It is certainly a HR I would recommend this others and it sure is an author I want to read more books by.

I am convinced this book has the worst male character in the history of romance novels. Selfish, cruel, lazy, and oblivious are not admirable qualities, I don't care how "hurt" or "damaged" he may be.
This is sad because I really liked the female lead character. Don't settle sweetheart, you can do SO MUCH BETTER.
Additionally this novel was missing Quinn's signature humor as well. Not her worst book but a long shoot from her best.

not great. Didn’t really like either of the characters? Miranda had all the elements of my favourite kind of spunky heroine but somehow it didn’t come together and she was just a bit unreasonable. In her attempt to be ‘not dramatic’ she ends up being completely dramatic… I mean, the bookstore incident was one thing, but concealing that you’re in labour so as not to disturb dinner. Eye roll.
Turner’s ‘I’m so bitter and awful’ got old real fast. He just gets mean… and then more mean…. and then awful.
Most of the book was no actual plot just Turner and Miranda bickering - and being downright nasty to one another. Olivia was my favourite part of this book, I hope her story is better.

Since I liked Olivia's story, I backed up to Miranda's.
Which I wasn't much impressed by. I liked Miranda as a character, but Turner I wanted to shake until his teeth chattered. His repeated endearment of "You little fool" didn't seem that endearing to me.
Yet, I did want Turner to finally realize that his inability to say "I love you" was utter crap and that Miranda wasn't Laetitia. So it wasn't all horrible. Quinn did give them more problems than the average hero/heroine couple in a romantic HEA.
Somehow reading these backward worked for me. Miranda and Turner don't appear in the next two books (only getting a mention in book 2) and if I'd read this one first I might not have felt the need to read the other Bevelstokes. If she does more, I hope we see Miranda and Turner popup in Winston's book.

My first experience reading Hisrom novel. Good writing, but so-so story? And I personally dislike Miranda Cheever.
