It's the worst thing I've read in a long time. I have read other series by the author like Bridgerton, the quartet or Rockesby and I loved them. I know this is a book from the beginning of her career. But it is very poorly written and the characters make no sense to me. The story and characters have no depth in development.
DNF
I tried to keep reading, but I can't overlook the fact that Miranda was TEN years old in that unsettling first scene with Nigel. 10 year olds don't look at 19 year olds and think "he's a Greek god of a man"!
And then she just spends the next 10 years in love with this man, based on one brief encounter? She barely saw the guy, and he even got married...

Classic Julia Quinn - funny, romantic, with great witty main characters. Fun!!!
I just don't think Julia Quinn's books are meant for me. I find myself thinking 'get to the point' so often when reading her stuff. I find not a lot happens in her books as well, which is OK if you have the talent of an Ian McEwan for example, not so much if you are a romance novelist.
I get annoyed by characters that don't talk out their issues till they blow up. USE YOUR WORDS!
