This so far has to be my favorite Julia Quinn book and I have read all of her Bridgerton novels. There is just something about Nigel Bevelstoke that just makes me love him and Miranda is the girl all of us think we are and in love with the handsome guy she thinks she will probably never have. In true Julia Quinn style the heroine is funny and witty and the hero strong and sexy!!
Ick. Now I know why I don’t read more Regency romance. It started out as a nice, sweet, gentle read, then turned into sexist dreck. I guess I’m not the intended audience for this kind of book, and I don’t want to be. What a horrible book to pick up after the wonderful Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The general sentiment of "Women are silly! They need a man to keep them in line" is not something I like to read about for fun. Personal worst book of the year contender.

I should have DNFed.
Turner and Miranda might genuinely be the worst two characters in a Julia Quinn novel and I've already read The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy.
Winston and Olivia saved this book from being zero stars. Although I'm disappointed Winston doesn't get his own book.

Loved and then hated and then loved this like 3 times over. Miranda was great, Turner was simultaneously The Worst™️ and the cutest throughout, which was interesting and frustrating in equal amounts. I loved the Bevelstoke family dynamic and am excited for Olivia’s story next!
Loved the scenes with Caroline and Turner. We don’t often get to see that in Quinn books (at least not in the ones I’ve read) and I thought it was very cute. Earned this review the 4th star completely by itself.

he treats her with absolutely zero respect the entire book, never apologizes for it, & still gets a happy ending?? no thanks
