This was a very entertaining read. My friend bought me this book for Christmas and I read it in a single day. Like WHAT!? Now I’m not saying it’s the best fantasy book to exist - but I will say that the plot is interesting and entertaining. It had my emotions going all over the place from in love to worried to sad. Some plot twists were easy to guess, but there was one particular plot twist that got me completely off guard.

Overall, this was a solid read. If you love witches and fae then definitely give this a go. There is some spice later on in the book but not too much which was a good balance.

Good story, sometimes the timing confuses me as it skips ahead a bit. Story was a bit predictable at times but still a fun and quite quick read!

Overall, honestly, I was a bit disappointed. This one read very YA to me. There was a LOT of action in a >400 pg book, and I never felt like we really got any character depth. I enjoyed the plot twists, but at the same time felt like I was missing information to guess them in the first place. Like they were added to add drama, not that they were well thought out and planned from the beginning. I’m gonna get real now so

Remy’s character just did not do it for me. She felt naive and like the story was happening to her rather than her leading it. I appreciated the spicy scenes, but at the same time thought the one in the woods made no sense, and was completely unnecessary. The whole Hale thing was definitely way more insta-love than enemies to lovers (I mean she meets him in Chapter 1) And I was missing any sort of slow-burn. But this is just my preference.

Overall I just felt like it moved wayyy too fast and the author tried to fit in sooo much into such a short book. I wish we had more time to get to know the characters and delve into their complexities. But I did finish it, so there’s that! It was really easy to digest, so if you need to get out of a slump!! I think I was just expecting more from an adult fantasy book. If I find the second at a thrift store (like I did this one!) I’ll probably get it, but I’m in no rush.

If you’re looking for a fast-pace, plot driven witchy policitical fantasy, this might be for you!
