Quando ho deciso di leggere questa storia, non sapevo a cosa sarei andata incontro. Sono stata convinta dalla copertina, dalla presenza di Fae e streghe.
Questa è la storia di Remy, una giovane ragazza che ha la sfortuna di essere nata stregha rossa in un'epoca dove le streghe sono temute e cacciate. Fin da quand'era piccola è stata costretta a scappare e a rifugiarsi in taverna e taverna pur di scappare dai cacciatori di streghe. Ogni giorno che passa diventa sempre più pericoloso essere una strega perchè il Re del Nord non si dà per vinto: dopo aver massacrato tutta la famiglia di Remy, ha messo una taglia sulla testa di tutte le steghe rosse... questo attira di certo tanti cacciatori.
Dall'altra parte troviamo Hale, figlio del Re dell'Est che è pronto a tutto pur di compiacere il padre. Per tale motivazione si getta a capo fitto nell'ultima missione del Re: sconfiggere il Re del Nord. Per fare ciò, Hale ha bisogno di ritrovare suo fratello, il legittimo erede al trono e due talismani. Ovviamente Remy è l'unica persona che può aiutare questo principe nella sua impresa e i due stringono un accordo: Remy deve aiutare il principe nella sua missione, lui in cambio la proteggerà dai cacciatori e da chi la vuole morta.
Remy non può sfuggire a una proposta così allettate e in più potrà finalmente sbarazzarsi di quel Re che ha masacrato la sua famiglia e la perseguita da anni...
Wow. Non ho altre parole con cui iniziare questa recensione. Non avevo nessuna aspettativa perchè, come vi ho anticipato, non avevo la più pallida idea di cosa aspettarmi, ma sono rimasta...CONTINUA

I really enjoyed this book, it had really good queer rep in which made me very happy! It does have spice but as a fanfic reader (lol) I wouldn't say it is very much. I know some have said the relationship is a little insta lovey, but when you discover why later on it makes more sense. Until right near the end this was a 3.5 star read for me, but the found family trope and other things changed it to a tentative 4 star read! I want the next one!
AH THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD - I was hooked right from the start. I fell in love with Remy and her story. After everything she's been through she just gets back up swinging. I wanted to join the group on their travels! I cannot wait for book 2!

This book was a clumsy mess. The plot was rushed and not fleshed out. This book could have easily been a trilogy by itself. Everything was too easy and the hidden pieces of the plot were easy to guess from the beginning. Don’t bother unless you’re THAT bored.
