In Crown of Blood and Stars we follow the story of Adeena as she sees her family killed and finds herself pulled into a fantastical, dark world of fae, power conflict and gods.
This story started really well - we dive straight into the action, I loved the main character and I didn’t not want to put the book down. The storyline is similar to a number of other fantasy romance books but it was well thought through and set up.
I liked the relationship between the two main characters, they do dive quite quickly into catching feelings and developing a relationship with each other but I didn’t mind that and I did genuinely believe it. I love a fated mates trope and I think it was done well in this book.
I initially really liked the fast pace of this book - the book is an easy read and I sped through it in one sitting.
The second half for me felt a bit rushed, this is a storyline which could have spanned into a duology and by making it a standalone book, it meant that some of the politics wasn’t well developed and there wasn’t a lot of world building which given how much I enjoyed the writing style, I would actually have liked to see more of.
It felt a bit as though the first half of the book was building up to some big scenes at the end and then those scenes were kind of over in a blink of an eye. It was still enjoyable but I think I would have enjoyed it even more if it had slowed down just a little to allow for some more detail and scene setting.

ARC review:
Let me start by saying that this is a fast-paced fantasy read that I jumped into and remained glued to through the end.
There were some minor, and likely subjective issues, that I noted while reading but it didn't change my overall desire to continue reading through the end. It was fairly obvious that this was a debut novel, a fair amount of words and phrases were repeated throughout and some aspects felt rushed but the story is intriguing. For as short as the book is, the characters and the magic-system are developed fairly well and I continued to feel connected enough that I wanted to learn more. The book could've used more pages to dive more into what felt a little lacking but hopefully the sequel makes up for it. Overall, it's a good debut novel and I'll definitely pick up the second to see how it continues.

Thank you to the author for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book us a fast-paced fantasy romance book and the first in the series. this book goes fast and from the first chapter you are thrown right into the story. For me there wasn't enough world building and character growth due to the fast pace of the book. While this book is easily predictable I did still enjoy the journey. i believe there is a lot of potential for this storyline but there were some plot holes that I would like to see fixed in future books. Overall while not the most complex book I still enjoyed reading it and if you are looking for a fast-paced fantasy romance I would give it a try.

Wow I loved this book way more then I thought I would! The tension the action all of it kept me wanting more.
This book is a fast pace fantasy book with fated mates, it was such a short book but it focused on talking a lot about the prophecy and the galaxy. I feel like it could have been written with different descriptions instead of repeating “his eyes darkened”or “his amber scent”. I would say as well that the plot twists were a bit too easy to figure out. I also would have enjoyed having Dreyden’s POV, But overall if you’re looking for a short story after reading something traumatizing, this would be a good book to start with.

The book started off super strong and action packed and I wanted to love it but there seemed to just be a lot of plot holes after the action. The relationship between the 2 main characters was extremely rushed. It went from her immediately hating him (which is understandable given everything she went through) to being in love with him and it just didn't flow and felt like something huge plot wise was missing in that sense
Minor: Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Slavery, Suicidal thoughts, Torture, Violence, Kidnapping, Suicide attempt, War, Injury/Injury detail
