Chilling in the most elegant way. Offred's voice is quiet but sharp, and the way Atwood weaves flashbacks with her present is masterful. Every detail felt intentional, and the scariest part is how real it all feels. Like, it's not some far-off dystopia. It's a few bad laws away. I was holding my breath through most of this. Devastating and necessary.

Unintentional started reading this on Inauguration Day and it was such a tough read. Well written and I liked the structure and Atwood’s research in it is terrifying but I really respect it. The world she made here is so scary and too close to reality to be comfortable. Would be a 5/5 if it wasn’t so draining but this was just an upsetting time to read it

It was so so good but then the ending felt very rushed and incomplete. It felt kind of like Atwood realized she had to finish the book and she was like “shit, pack it up girl”
