I liked the diary-writing format, but ultimately found Andrea to be pretty unlikeable and sad. I know some of her annoying qualities were a result of an overly demanding mother and her high expectations, but I pretty much just wanted Andrea to go to therapy to learn how to set some boundaries.

Ogólnie spodziewałam się po tej książce czegoś innego, lepszego i w niektórych momentach zastanawiałam się czy autorka sama nie gubiła się trochę w tym co pisała np gdy Andrea narzekała na swoje zarobki i kilka razy oświadczała, że żyje od wypłaty do wypłaty i ledwo wiąże koniec z końcem, a w następnej chwili idzie sobie kupić nowiutką torebkę LV prosto z salonu "bo tak". Do tego poza opisami pracy i piciem alkoholu z ktorym widocznie miała problem prawie nic się nie działo. Miałam wrażenie, że niektóre sceny pisane są na siłę byleby wyszła z tego jakaś książka i nawet sam romans nie bardzo uratował tą historię. Czytając to, miałam ochotę parę razy się poddać i nie kończyć głównie przez zachowanie Andrei i jej matki - gdy już dochodziło do ich wspólnych spotkań.

Romance is already cringe, but the Asian family dynamic being laid on so thick was hard to read.
I am so torn about this book. On one hand I really like the protagonist’s voice and self deprecating nature. However, there were parts of the storyline that just dragged on and bored me.
I loved that this was written a lot like the Princess Diaries series: in the form of diary entries. The main character was likeable. The story was plausible. There was lots of tension and curveballs. Sadly, the whole thing wraps up very abruptly in the last hour of the book. It feels very abrupt after the 11 hours preceding it. Overall it was a cute story.
I was really amused by the protagonist narrator's sense of humor and really enjoyed the book early on, but it went on a bit too long for me.

I was really looking forward to this as it was touted as the 'if you loved Crazy Rich Asians' (I did) pick but it just really didn't do it for me. I found Andrea, and many of the other characters, irritating and none of them had much depth at all. It felt like a slog and I ended up skim reading the final third to get to the end.

I think my main issue was that I liked Eric? Hahaha which just says a lot about me. Actually. Not really. That man loved her and respected her. The other man had a girlfriend!!!! I don’t really enjoy the storyline of a man with a bad gf falling for another girl
I was definitely into this novel. If you’ve heard anything about this book, it’s that it’s a cross between Bridget Jone’s Diary and Crazy Rich Asians, and that is a very accurate description. I loved it. I would’ve been friends with this protagonist in real life. The pacing got a little jerky for me, but overall it was just a great read.
