They say children are magic and this book is the epitome of that. An orphan Mary finds her way into her uncle's mansion with a 100 rooms on the moor. In her quest to explore the world around her, she discovers a secret garden which has been locked since her aunt died. She cultivates the garden with all her might and also helps the little boy Colin, who has been in bed his whole life see the world in a new light.

This story was purely innocent and beautiful. I loved the setting of the book. But what stood out the most was the character development of the two protagonists. Mary as well as Colin were children who had been neglected by their parents. They regained their lost childhood as they found companionship in each other. There were some very strong characters too such as Mrs Sowerby and Dickon. Even though there were very few characters, every character had a strong impact in the story.

Like the garden, the story too bloomed magically. ✨

I would recommend this to anyone who wants a cozy, happy and magical read.

A charming springtime read with well-crafted characters and heartwarming themes. A little too saccharine, and a little too repetitive, but overall a joy.
