Really nice and happy book. Not a 5 star read just because of the outdated words and cultural references that were made.

Absolutely loved this book! I remember being young and mesmerized. The young girl and her story is so captivating. This book draws you in like no other book. The element of mystery and sadness is striking. But it is not an unhappy story. I haven't read this book in years and yet the feelings it left in me, still remains with me to date. One of the most memorable books I have read. Clearly it left an impact on the 13 year old girl who read it.

I have wanted to read this book for years after absoluely adoring the movie as a child. I havent enjoyed many classic in the past but i have a beautiful edition so I wanted to give it a read. To start off with as most cases with classics i struggled to get into and found a few terms controversial. I ended up asking old mate chatgpt if the secret garden was worth finishing based off the books i enjoy and who i am and it recommended i finished it.
While i see why chatgpt would have suggested i finish it i dont know that it was really worth it. I get it, i do but when I think about all the books I know I would love and enjoy more with similar whimsy and tones, that are more relevent to our world today I just think it wasn't worth the investment of time. I did also want to pre read it to see if I thought it was something my daughter would enjoy. Although I feel like a lot would be relevent to her and she would love the vibes, i dont think id read it to her because of the racism in the book and think we could find something just as beautiful and less harmful.
Now to decide if I will keep this beautiful edition.

Such an enjoyable read. Paired this with the graphic novel and enjoyed them both. I also watched the 2020 movie adaptation. All beautiful!
