I absolutely love it. It was a little had to get into, but I blame that on the fact that I've seen the show before reading the book. It's in many aspects very similar to the show and in just as many very different.

I love both the book and the show and I can understand some of the changes they had to make.

Definitely a book I would recommend and definitely a book I would read again, and again and...

After about 50 pages, I am still continuing to find it better than your average historical romance fare. Reading it right after Stevenson's Highland novels is a pleasant diversion. Gabaldon seems to have done her research. And it's pleasantly racy. There is a girl I have a crush on who actually went to Scotland, inspired by reading this book. She did not, however, read any of thre sequels.

I am so torn bc i really loved this book and couldn’t put it down BUT a lot of it made me really uncomfortable

But then again, protagonists don’t have to be completely likable

Anyway…imma read the next one

I like the audiobook because of the Scottish accents #sorrynotsorry. Not sure I loved the book enough to read more in this series but am definitely going to check out the show based on it

Absolutely interminable - will probably finish the series.

This book is amazing, so many historical details about Scotland that I had no idea ever existed. And the story is something else, there is love, loss, war, romance, lots of sex ( so I wouldn't recommend it to younger readers), imprisonment, family, and of course time travel. It makes you feel for the characters as they face what is in front of them, many times they risk everything, and that's what makes this story feel so real. At the beginning I was kind of hesitant about this book being all that great, but as I kept reading I kept wanting more. I couldn't get enough. Clairs life has really taken a 180º turn, but is it for the better? I think so. And I guess I'll find out more as I read more of the series. Yes people this is just the first book. The are seven! And I have already started on the second.

I found this book through other peoples reviews of The Bronze Horseman, which is another great great book. A lot of readers said they were looking for something similar in nature to TBH and this is it. So without hesitation, really, I ordered the whole series. And good thing I did, after finishing this one I wouldn't be able to wait for the next book.

And there is even talk of a series based on this book. Lets hope it goes through.

I just finished and that ending killed me omg! I loved the adventure of reading this book so much!
