Man, I feel like I've been slugging through mud reading this book. And I just kept holding on and holding on because I've heard so many great things but no. Also Claire and Jamie's relationship I definitely saw the bit of chemistry but it wasn't fleshed out all the way for me. Also Claire adjusting so well to what actually happened to her was... odd. Of course was brought up repeatedly but I would like to think it would have been so jarring and traumatic that not only would she be more impacted daily but also she would express that to the people around her. But maybe that was a purposeful writer's choice. Also eventually it just got to the point for me where I was wondering why she wasn't just trying to tell Jamie what had actually happened or at least hint at it to see how he would take it. Because she was causing all of this trouble over people thinking she was a spy when really she wasn't. But yeah biggest critique was that it was so slow that my interest was just steadily declining. It's not as though something interesting was happening every chapter or two but otherwise it was just dialogue that at one point started to repeat itself. So yeah felt like I was wasting my time. Also the multiple attempted rapes and rape descriptions, not great to read for me.

I finished the whole thing...but it was painful.

The premise of this book seemed so interesting, and I’ve heard plenty about it and decided to give it a try. I liked that it went to Scotland, as I feel like so many period dramas focus on the same region and I have never seen anything focus on this population.
I found Claire to be interesting, sometimes a little cheesy. It bothered me that after she got thrown in time and into Jaime she rarely mentioned her husband. I feel like there would be more feelings about that. Also, she only spoke about the lack of medical supplies, but NOTHING else that changed by being thrown back In time. Technology, bathrooms etc. I would surely miss those!!

The plot twists were pretty good, and kept the book entertaining as it is long. The end definitely got dark, which was sad but I think made the book more interesting than it would have been without. That’s where the best writing was.

I will likely read the next book, but not sure if I will stay through the whole series.

Neplānots ceļojums laikā un skaistā Skotijas daba, man ļoti patika. Romāns par to kā atkal atrast sevi jaunā vidē un laikā. Izrādās, ka viss ir iespējams.

I just couldn't get into the story. Really slow going.
