First and foremost, this was excellent. Though the start dragged after the insane ending of The Mime Order, The Song Rising picked up about half way through and really held on like a vice. The political entanglement, the action, the slow burn romance, and the character development are all top tier.

Lastly, I hope editing has improved for later editions and the fourth book because this was drowning in typos and formatting errors. I found a question mark in the middle of a sentence for crying out loud. I have never ever seen such terrible editing. If I’m paying over $40 for a book that’s the “author’s preferred text” and has technically been published for years and years it better be up to par, my friend. End of rant.
