The emotional pain this series brings is really .... something else!
Suprised how "thin" this was in comparance with the others, but after reading it, it does feel a little like a filler BUT an important one, one that I think seperates the problems and the first two from the next!

Samatha Shannon doesn’t miss. This has rapidly become one of my favorite series.
TSR was probably one of her darkest books that I’ve ever read. I only haven’t read the rest of THM or A Day of Fallen Night. However, I really doubt the darkness of this book will be beaten.
Despite that dark parts, there is so much character development. Foreshadowing, motifs, and character emotions are all so incredibly nuanced. The characters are lovable but frustrating. Even the characters you should hate I still like due to how interesting they are. This of course is excluding Nasheria & a couple of her loyalists.
The writing is skillful & makes the action packed story so fantastic.
I highly recommend this series as well as this book. She once said in an interview that this was the most difficult book she’s ever written. I understand why, but it’s worth the read.

This was a solid read! I really enjoyed book 2 and was excited to start this book, so I’m glad I had a good time.
I think the plot is really starting to pick up and get more complex (I always love that). Unfortunately this book was quite short. I would rather a book be a bit too quick than drag on, but I wish we had a bit more time spent in each location. Paige and her gang of unnaturals are such interesting characters so I’m happy to keep reading this series.

Samantha is only getting better as this series progresses. The characters are becoming much more real and the war strategy is well paced. Had me on the EDGE of my seat the whole way through
