If Cassandra Clare's goal going into writing this book was making readers cry, then she certainly succeeded. Since I read TID first during my TSC marathon, I grew incredibly attached to Will, Tessa, and Jem (especially after all the references to them (and of course Jem & Tessa's happy endings in TMI and TDA)) so following Jem across his years of pining for those he loved most was particularly painful for me to read. Overall, I enjoyed this book simply because it starred one of my favorite TSC characters (Jem <3) and was another way for me to keep myself immersed in the Shadowhunter-verse before entering my huge TSC hangover.
It was amazing, Lily Chen is a bisexual icon and we stan.
Paired ebook with audiobook. The chapters did not follow the originally published novella order. I'm pretty sensitive to sounds so the narrators definitely affected my reading experience quite a bit.

Goodreads please let us do half star ratings! This is a 3.5 stars. Some stories were better than others. The best in my opinion were Cast Long Shadows, Everything Exquisite, The Land that I Lost, and a Deeper Love. I'm so ready for The Last Hours, we've been teased for too many years now.
I liked seeing Jem but sometimes his silent brother live was just so sad. Breaks my heart that we'll never see Jem, Will, and Tessa together again as their regular selves. Jem remember Will always makes my eyes teary.
I liked seeing Jem and Tessa happy together but I would also like some Tessa and Will stories too. Please Cassie where is there short story book about their marriage I need it.
The sad thing is is that the last two stories made me so conflicted about The Wicked Powers. I want to see more about Kit and Ty, but I'm also not here for this Janus plotline. Like I really don't like it. And it's not going away so ugh. I keep forgetting how much I didn't like the ending of QoAaD.
Also I'm sad no Cassandra Jean illustrations! But Cassie said she was too busy working on the graphic novel to do so I get it.

I really enjoyed this! Jem is definitely my favorite character in the Shadowhunters Chronicles, so a book about him? Hell yeah!
I loved reading about Jem and Tessa again, and all the other characters who were mentioned. The stories during the same time as The Last Hours also made me very excited for Chain of Gold (which is still on my TBR, but I definitely want to start reading it soon!)
Also, reading about Kit, Ty and Livvy again made me very happy, and I'm also so excited for The Wicked Powers, I can't wait until those books are released!
