Hate it. Any spy thriller book that begins in the first 50 pages with a description of a woman's breasts is bound to be terrible.
The characters were boring and cliché: the strong silent man who everyone is in love with, the vaguely angry and revengey other men, the other other strong angry men.

Even if I could forgive this, literally as soon as I realized the main villain was a powerful Palestinian super-terrorist I was 100% out. Seriously, a rogue Palestinian terrorist taking out Israeli officials? What a farce. What disrespect to the generations of violence Palestinians have suffered.

No thank you. Never again.

Although this book started a bit slow for me, I came back to it to give it another chance on the recommendation of my brother. Glad I did, as it was a fast-paced, thrilling spy book, of the genre that I really enjoy. I will definitely read more Daniel Silva books in the future.

In the name of country, protect at all costs. Use who and what you need, cover your tracks no matter what, erase all traces of who and what you are and any who know the truth.

Very, very good start to a series, story and character development is top notch.

Very winding, but pretty good.

Your basic spy vs. terrorist novel but with some added character development that I hope will continue as the series goes along.

3.5 rounded. I found the tedious history lectures really annoying. I like historical background, but please don’t shove it down our throats.

I know many who love this series, but I didn’t connect with the characters or the writing. Still a decent storyline and plot for a spy book
