Daniel Silva is my reliable go to author for a generally enjoyable read. I realized I had never read the book that birthed Gabriel Allon. As with most Silva's books, the most compelling part is a deft blend of politics, history and art that always leaves me wanting to learn more about the events that inspired the story. The Kill Artist wasn't my favorite Gabriel Allon novel, but it was a solid read. Would have improved had the epilogue not tried to wrap up several loose ends in far too few pages.
Can't believe it took me this long to read/find Daniel Silva novel. Loved reading a new action/spy thriller.
DNF. This is probably a fine book, but it's REALLY not my taste. At all.
Formulaic spy story. Women are either incredibly beautiful or plump and plain. Men are strong, stoic and handsome. Israelis vs Palestinians. Israeli assassin has some humanity and regrets about killing, Palestinian portrayed as heartless and driven by anger and revenge. There is some defense of Palestinian fight for their stolen land.
i was expecting more from gabriel...not from sarah... but good novel, well written... il read his other books next :)
mysterious
tense
fast-paced
A true successor of Clancy (minus some of the techno) and Ludlum. Truly engaging.
Gabriel Allon is a former spy. But he's lured back into the game by the chance to kill the terrorist who blew up his wife and child. Problem is that things in the spy business, as in life, aren't always what they appear to be. He's about to be reminded of that. Again.
Characters well-drawn, twists and surprises, especially the ending!
I'll definitely be continuing this series.
I listened to the audio edition and it has an excellent narrator.
