I expected a lot from this book, so it may be my fault that I didn't get as much. The topic is interesting and I loved the details the readers get about the theatre and all the steps needed to make a play.
But I found the story... unexploited. I felt it had potential but everything could have been so much more expanded on.
So, I'm going to talk about the characters instead, because it is them that really fill this book. I have rarely seen a character so self-absorbed and unlikable as Kira Rasher (Patrick Bateman may have been the last). To me, it feels like she is a beautiful woman who goes in a sulk and throws a tempour tantrum whenever her beauty doesn't give her what she wants. Hense, I couldn't be bothered to care about her at all.
Joanna surprised me, I thought she's going to be the one I hate when I actually prefered her to Kira. But she is just such a dull and weak character (even the end-jesture is drawn out of her and would have happened even without her), that I kept forgetting about her.
Malcolm had potential but he is so hollow, so unknowable that, even if he is a psychopath as it is implied at times, he is too much of a shell for me. Not like psychopaths can be written, but literally like a character on paper.
So, all in all, while the book is readable, I would want just so much more from it.

Holy SHIT!!!!! I turned the page wanting/expecting more and was met with the acknowledgments

Everything happened because she’s “not superstitious” and said Macbeth in the theater

Objectively, Temper is a great book with interesting themes and characters but it was not for me.

Temper is a slow paced drama about how theater can make people lose control over themselves. It’s a well written book with a dual pov that I’d recommend to other readers who enjoy reading about this subject.

If you’re into some twisted shit, this book is for you. The ending was so dark and, dare I say, triumphant?! Also, we love a whole slew of bisexual characters. As the other reviews state, go in with as little info as possible. Really wishing Goodreads would do a 1/2 star system because this was a solid 3.5.

Temper is a book I couldn’t stop reading while despising all of the characters. I honestly could not stand them which usually causes me to stop reading but I had to finish it. I also knew where the story was heading. I wasn’t surprised by any of their actions and yet I couldn’t stop reading.

The story takes place in Chicago, which I love. Especially when I can picture the locations and they are accurate. It revolves around a small theater company, which was fun since I worked for some small comprehensive I first moved to the city. I have worked with actors who take their roles to the point of danger which could be part of what held my attention. I can’t be sure. I would recommend this suspense for people who aren’t looking for a “who done it” and enjoy a dark twist.

I will admit, I may have wanted this to go darker but At the end of the day I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read Temper.

Thank you Net Galley and Simon & Schuster Canada for providing this morsel in exchange for my honest review.

This one fell flat for
Me. Just a meh.

If you have ever worked in a stage production this book is for you. I've been told that actors go thru extreme measures to get into character. This book gives us a look of what happens when pushed over the edge while perfecting the character.

Very interesting novel. I went in blind, which startled me to open to chapter one and see my name along the top--I hadn't even read the summary so apparently I'm an actress in this book.

I ended up getting sucked in, despite there not being much 'plot' to speak of. The characters were sort of plain, nothing really setting them apart from each other, but I was intrigued enough to read it all in one sitting.
