Honestly, I felt torn at the beginning of this book. Both Nassakth and Bethiah have to be my favorite characters. Bethiah is a bounty hunter hired to kidnap a kind and willing husband for the scared human named Kim, but Bethiah realises this human is foolish in thinking things are so simple, but she takes care in deliverering what she feels is best for the human and that is Nassakth, a ex slave Gladiator.
Nassakth love this kind and innocent Kim, whom he feels is his destined mate. But Kim is terrified and struggles with trauma from experience as a sex slave. Nassakth is patient, coaxing Kim to give him a chance to prove that he will be there for her.
I absolutely love these two. They help Kim heal in their own ways while protecting her. But while Nassakth wants to shield her from things, Bethiah will point out the little humans' mistakes and help her realize that she needs to be more aware of her actions. Their personalities and interactions through the entire story make me thrilled.
Kim, on the other hand...I struggled to understand her for a while. She acts fearful but often leaps into action without thinking about the dangers she places on herself. At times, she seems like an amazing character, but at other times, she handles situations that make me feel like she is a child and not a woman in her 30's. But Kim has struggled through changes and is lost on how to help herself. Her innocence shows this way and though I had not expected this for a main fml, I respect that even though she is often placing herself in predicaments that complicated things, she is doing her best. I have come to love her for this.

I enjoyed the novelty of him being a cat man. It was surprisingly hot.
