It really seems that at the time it came out we were supposed to … like Scott? Is that right?
From here, though, this feels more like a textbook of how to be shitty. And that’s fine. I don’t have to like the protagonist to like the book. The idea that he says he’s dating a high school girl at 23 because it’s “simple” and then immediately he starts dating a mysterious girl who’s exes you have to physically defeat is really saying something, ya know? I feel, based on the lil extras and the original proposal in the back of this edition, that this WASN’T the point at the time. Which is wild to me! The point seemed to be “Cool Dude Scott has really got himself into a pickle THIS time!!!” and not, like, “Scott is a walking red flag.”

I love the movie, so it was super fun to read this!
New series I recently started. It was a confusing read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book felt like a quick read despite the size of it. Curious for more.
This was fun and nice to read in a day, going to/from work. Entertaining story, cute drawings, and a somewhat unlikeable hero kept me engaged. Not terribly complex characters or plots, though, and the rhyming towards the end made me cringe eek.
I felt like I was watching the movie. I don't know if this version was out before the movie came, but it wasn't interesting or appealing to read after seeing this book take place at a much faster pace in a movie. Because the movie has already been released of this same story, I don't think there is anything unique enough about this book to be on the list. A NO vote for me.
