Ollie's persistence paid off and I'm finally reading the Scott Pilgrim series. There are so many fun in-jokes about indie music, Toronto spots, and 2004 trends in general. I'm probably missing a ton of the video game references, but it's fun when I spot them.

I love the theme of two people bringing experiences (harm, pain, but also growth) from their prior relationships into their current one--O'Malley definitely takes this up a notch with the magical quest framework. I also like that the book series allows way more character development of secondary/supporting characters than the movie did. Some of the components, particularly the short-lived "dating a highschooler" plot, haven't aged that well, but overall these are fun reads.

Vol. 1 of Scott Pilgrim's journey was a fun read. I kept hearing all of the actors from the movie, but this is not necessarily a bad thing, as I liked the movie a lot. I look forward to the rest of the series.

My friend michael really likes the comics and I really like the movie so I read the first one on my trip to the bookstore today! It’s awesome. I love Scott Pilgrim. The casting of the movie was very good too because they look like the drawings.

Fun!

I watched the movie before I even knew the comics series existed, and I was surprised to find that at least this first volume was followed incredibly closely by the film. It's still very enjoyable even having watched the movie enough times to have the story memorized, but I do hope the next volumes might stray further afield and give me something new.

Not a huge fan, it was kind of cute though.
