i loved the writing style, the metaphors, and writing expression.
but finding out the cause of the estrangement was horrible because what a truly horrible thing to do? and that up to this point in the novel, it seems Yoella doesn't know what she's done wrong, even though there are hints of her overprotectiveness that clouds her better judgment. and even to the end of this novel, which has spanned from Leah's birth to her becoming a mother, it seems Yoella has not changed the way that love clouds her judgment.

Beautifully written and suspenseful in a very real way. You kept wondering: what did she do to alienate her daughter so thoroughly? You wanted it to be something so evil that you couldn't imagine your own child freezing you out.
This would be an interesting book group read just to see how much sympathy/empathy the mother character would receive from members. I bet there would be some discord.
