The premise of this book was promising however it didn’t deliver as much as I would have liked it to. It was a nice easy read though and I did enjoy some parts of the story.

I found the pacing to be all over the place, with the start grabbing your attention with the main character Josh’s slightly disastrous life at the forefront of the story but then I found the middle to be a little random and gap filling almost until the end which ended up being quite rushed. Some of the content almost didn’t need to happen and perhaps could have been replaced with what would end up being the build up to the conclusion of the story rather than that happening less than 10 chapters from the end of the book.

At times the characters could be a little hard to find likeable or root for especially when they’d sometimes make questionable life choices or say the wrong things haha. I did however enjoy the dynamic between the friendship group in the story as well as the relationship between the main character Josh and his grandfather.

Overall it was a nice book to read, just wish it could have given more than it did at times and then I would’ve rated it higher.

I found it incredibly boring and tried to be funny but didn’t land at all. It was also super slow paced; we didn’t meet the FMC until page 160 and I stopped reading at page 264 when they still had not been reunited.

This book got me back into reading that’s the only reason I think I rated it so high but it is a great book, but most of the books I read now are nothing like this book

I just found this book extremely boring and painful to read. The main character is so awkward and lies because he’s ashamed of his life and then gets caught every time which makes him look worse than if he’d just told the truth. Very British type writing, if it was a tv show maybe it would be better but I just can’t stand this book, and I can’t make myself push through to see if he somehow redeems this pathetic main character.

What a gorgeous story! Just what I needed in lockdown! Clever and sweet with some laugh out loud moments. It was great to read a romantic comedy from the perspective of the guy for once. Refreshing and light-hearted - I loved it!
