this was a very strange book, but i guess i knew that going into it because it's about a guy who's girlfriend said no to his marriage proposal, then he lost his job and had to move out of his apartment (flat, rather, since he's british) and since he's basically having an existential crisis he decides he's going to start making every decision with the flip of a coin lmao. then the coin leads him to meeting this girl who he really likes but didn't catch her number before they parted ways and then,, well you see what happens. i thought the concept was kind of funny so i wanted to see what it was about, but it was just okay. the majority of the book is actually just him trying to find the girl he met and talked to for like 30 minutes in an art gallery lmao.
deadas,, he literally went to 2 different countries and every single bookstore where he thought she worked to try and find her. he did eventually, but anyway.
i honestly would not even call this a romance book, there is no real development of a romance and the characters aren't really that well developed either in my opinion, so i didn't end up caring at all about what happened to them. it's mainly just about a guy trying to find himself again after his life went in this whole downward spiral, and i think it was meant to be inspirational? but i didn't get much out of it, and it was very meh. i did enjoy some parts of it and it was very quick and easy to read though, so i'm just going to give it 3 stars because why not.

This book came highly recommended to me but I was very disappointed. I did not really like Josh or Lucy. I did not like how long the book focused on seemingly unnecessary topics and gave very limited attention to the things I wanted to read about. The premise of the book is that Josh flips a coin for big decisions he makes for a year. It doesn’t sound like a typical thing to do but I didn’t sound crazy. Every person he told about the coin freaked out as if he was committing some crime. Lucy was not well written. There are so many better books to read in this genre so I do not really recommend this book.
