The big ones are from the last book. The court case for it is going on while pip looks at the new case. There's one scene towards the end of this book which is where the book gets the most violent with a gun and sets the place on fire.asourceoffiction's review against another edition

It's a little convenient (and unlikely) that so early on there's a new mystery for Pip to solve, but it's also what I loved about the first book so I didn't mind! Plus here there are still so many consequences Pip is facing that she's clearly torn about getting involved in another mystery, and it adds a different bent to this story.
It's odd; the mystery Pip has to solve in this story is inherently more urgent than in the first book. And yet, the pace starts a lot more gently this time. Perhaps it's to contrast it from the first book. But suddenly from about the half way point I was desperate to jump forward and find out what the hell was going on. It also ramped up the emotion rather quickly and I really found myself having a lot of feelings!
It turned out that I fell into what was clearly an intentional red herring when guessing what was happening, and I was totally floored by the ending. It was a bit far-fetched (and I feel like living in Little Kilton should come with a safety warning), but I still really enjoyed the journey and the brilliant writing.
