This was actually so good and made me laugh. Which usually I’m a tough cookie to crack when it comes to humor in books but this one definitely got some chuckles. However the last like 50 pages of the book were outrageous 😭😭 It redeemed itself in the epilogue but what the hell.
I’m pretty sure the NDA wouldn’t have worked in that situation. Listen I'm no lawyer but I do know that it’s null and void if an illegal act is committed and u have to sign NDA’s before the act takes place I think. But either way the move to Ohio was pointless? He still an easily findable famous hockey player whether he’s in cali or Ohio so idk y that’s a viable escape route. And with the magic nda they didn’t have to lay low anyway. It was just so pointless and made me sad that they were moving away from their found family. This easily could have been written as him almost being traded and then surprise nda fixes everything and he gets to stay.

The story line felt really random at times.

The exploration of pleasure was good but also not quite fleshed out enough.

Holy Spicy tamale. Marriage of convenience with a sexy hockey dad who borders on needing anger management and a sweet-faced mom who has a chronic illness and needs health insurance. Mutual beneficial arrangement leads to said sweet-faced mom getting downright filthy with her kinks.
This book is only slightly unhinged, yet also full of heart. Both Jack and Mara have been burned before and Jack wears armor around his heart swearing he won't fall in in love again. Let's see how that works out.
The author does a great job of peeling back the layers to Jack and underneath his hard exterior is a big softie who will go to the end of the earth for his people. I do think he could use some counseling.

Mara has a lot of health issues that kind of fell off to the side at the end of the book and I got a bit of whiplash with the characters rash decisions in the last 10%.
Overall, I enjoy this series and these characters and would recommend to all the spicy readers.

Super hot and tatted hockey dad who is DEVOTED to his kids? Say less. Jack is a single dad with a horrid ex wife (hate her) and Mara is a newly single mom just trying to take care of herself while being a good mom. I thought that the way they met was very organic and the way things developed felt natural. There is nothing worse than forced chemistry.

Dani's representation of hEDS was respectful and real, not only is it important for people to be seen but for those on the outside to learn not to judge a book by the cover -- you just never know what people are going through on a day to day. Jacks support of Dani through her symptoms was so sweet, the definition of if he wanted to he would.

Now on to the smut, I don't ever read femdom and this was definitely femdom lite but still wasn't really my cup of tea, which is why it wasn't a five star read. BUT THAT BEING SAID, it's just a personal preference. i still immensely enjoyed it and our little Jackie baby was hot as hell.

What's inside:
-marriage of convenience
-protective MMC
-single parents
-chronic illness rep
-femdom
-pro hockey

CW/TW:
-neglectful parents (jack and mara's parents)
-descriptive sex scenes (femdom)
-violence

Mara hasn't had it easy. She's living with several chronic pain conditions while parenting two young children after her ex decided to go on a spiritual quest. Oh, and she just lost her job.

Jack is sure he's never going to be in a relationship again. And in the unlikely chance he is, he's never going to love someone again. But after meeting Mara during a parent teacher conference after their kids stood up to a bully, he finds himself ready to help her during her time of need.

What follows is a series of unfortunate events that lead Jack to decide to propose a marriage of convenience... You know, so he can make Mara's life easier (swoon!)

Friends, this book was a spicy good time with some firecracker characters, amazing health representation and a cast of amazing supporting characters.

I read Dani's previous release last fall, Unbreakable, and I'd say this was a bit of a prequel to that one but they are easily standalones.

If you're in the mood for a hockey romance with a marriage of convenience and two single parents, pick this one up!

Thank you to Sunny Babe PR for a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Okay the dedication of this book had me immediately SOLD, but then on the very next page is descriptions of chronic illnesses that our FMC had, and girllll ME TOO. it felt like me reading this book was kismet at this moment of my life. And the author mentioned she went through lengths to make sure everything she wrote about it would transfer correctly, and it did. I don’t think she had anything to worry about with that, it felt so healing to read through Mara’s POV.

Now I am a sucker for a hockey romance and this was definitely no exception. It had all the fun tropes single dad, single mom, marriage of convenience, FEMALE DOM!!! (hello? sign me up) Jackie Boy was truly the sweetest grump ever, he was so kind and understanding and patient. Love him. And Mara, I’ll never have the words to describe how much this character meant to me. I loved their story so much, plus they were hot
