I really loved this book & Dani's writing in general. She writes about REAL people with REAL LIFE problems. Her characters are diverse, unique and more anchored than a lot of other stories in this genre. Her books (at least the 2 in this series) make you feel seen; they just really hit hard with the social commentary and the reality of living a less-than-perfect life with imperfect marriages, co parenting situations, health, emotional baggage etc. No one quite writes it like Dani Galliaro.

Having raved so positive, I will say that there were parts of this book that I found incongruent - hence I've knocked down a star. Jack was so amazing (except for the ability to love Mara) & then it suddenly flipped - and he was professing it. I wasn't quite sure why Mara was so hung up on him needing to say it, when it felt like she *knew* deep down that he felt it. They were married & they felt married in all possible ways - but they still kept questioning it? In theory, I get the storyline - I just didn't feel the emotional conviction when I read it.

Regardless - I will absolutely 100% recommend this book, at least for the diverse & real viewpoints. It's an insight into different lives and the disability rep was very educational for me.

Tropes:
* single mom/single dad
* Hockey romance
* Chronically ill fmc
* Femdom
* Marriage of convenience
* Good Boy

Thank you so much to Dani Galliaro for another ARC. Also thank you to Sunny Babe PR!

This is the second book in Dani's interconnected series. I thought I fell in love with Dylan and Jeannie in Unbreakable but nothing could have prepared me for Mara and Jackie baby! The femdom in the book was not what I was expecting but I ate it up.

Mara is someone who deals with chronic pain and different illnesses and how Dani was able to portray her without making it overly done or insensitive was truly amazing.

The punishment during hockey practice.... Mara teach me your ways. That scene had me cracking up!!

Gawwwddddd this book had me in a CHOKEHOLD!

I wholeheartedly devoured this book and the love story between Mara and Jack. Jack being a hardcore SIMP but also the most hardheaded man had me loving every chapter I got to have in his POV. And Mara being the stubborn yet most powerful and loving woman to Jack and all of their kids despite her multiple chronic illnesses? Amazing, give me 14 of em.

Okay! But on a real note, this book was very well written in the romance, the plot points, the smut, and all the conflict this family went through. There were times I was holding my breath waiting for the next puck to drop (pun 100% intended) and other times I was laughing and smiling so hard at the familial moments they shared. Mara and Jack not only support each other wholeheartedly but they also support their kids and put them first in every scenario.

I wasn’t the *biggest* fan of the almost pushy way Mara shoved her need for love on Jack, though I know this was a big part of their relationship and how it evolves. In the end, it all worked out and Jack came to his own realizations and it only made their relationship stronger.

If you’re a fan of marriage of convenience, hockey romance, single parents, and representation of different chronic illnesses in a love story, this book should be at the top of your list!

I wish I liked this as much as the first book but I don’t. I love the characters as individuals and their story is cute. I just wasn’t as hook on it.
