This one was so different with Mara and her diagnoses and Jack being so hurt from a past marriage. It was beautiful to see how Mara handled everything and Jack was there to support her even more and take her through it. I loved the relationship with him and Hazel (too cute)!!

Thank you to Sunny Babe Pr and the author for the copy of this book.
This book has been living in my head rent-free since I read it a couple weeks ago (I’m super behind on reviews lol)!
So obviously the spice between Mara and Jack was super fun to read, and I loved their romantic and emotional chemistry. There were definitely moments where both of them irritated me lol but that’s what made it so real. The book also very tastefully handled difficult topics and was actually super educational about chronic illness and disability. There was even a bit of morally-grey goodness that I didn’t expect. Please make sure to check out the trigger warnings provided by the author!
This book definitely opened my eyes in more ways than one!!
You should read this if:
🏒 You’re a fan of sports romance (hockey)
🏒 You love marriage of convenience and friends-to-lovers
🏒 You’re looking for a spicy story filled with growth and emotion.

Mara and Jack meet each other in the principal's office after their kids get in trouble at school and an attraction starts. As he gets to know her and finds out about her medical issues and his childcare situation becomes an issue, he devises a plan to solve both their problems- a marriage of convenience with benefits! But absolutely NO love and nothing romantic. After a bitter divorce with his ex, he no longer believes in love so he strictly makes sure no feelings are involved. Never ever, nothing at all. Famous last words!
Jack was a self proclaimed A-hole but I don't think he really was. He was thoughtful and caring Maybe he was jilted by his ex but he never was rude or mean to those he loved. I loved the little connection he had with Hazel.
The pacing was a little slow but I understood that they needed to get to know and trust each other first, especially because they were both jaded by their exes. The spicy scenes were extra spicy and I loved how Mara took control naturally and it wasn't forced and he trusted her and liked being bossed around
The nickname just killed me though. "Jackie baby" was so childish and not at all something I could stomach. That’s just not my thing and it was cringy at times.
The business with her ex was kinda crazy towards the end. Now I’m not a prude to violence but it was unnecessary and easily could have been a better resolution if they just had words, a fist fight or he just communicated with Mara instead of seeking out Bryce and planning an elaborate crime.

Unthinkable by Dani Garo delivers a heartwarming tale about two divorcees and single parents who, having pain and heartbreak in the past, get the chance to experience the true meaning of love. Readers looking for a story featuring relatable characters—those who have experienced trauma, chronic illness, and disability— will appreciate Unthinkable.
When I chose to read Unthinkable, I didn't realize that it was the second book in a series. However, I needed to not worry as it worked well on its own. In this installment of the Ohio Rusties series readers are given Jack and Mara's story. Mara a recent divorce (abandoned by her douchebag husband) and mother of two has a chronic illness that cause her to be in pain about 90 % of the time. Between raising her children and her illness she struggles to make ends meet. Despite all this she never gave up hope. She's one strong and determined female.
Jack a NHL hockey and single father of two doesn't believe in love. After his experience with his ex-wife, he has no intention of giving his heart to another woman. But of course, fate always has plans bigger than our decisions. He's grumpy but fiercely protective of those he cares about, and Mara and her children fell right into that category. Now Jack may feel that falling in love is not for him, but his heart never received that memo. The more time he spent around Mara and her children the harder he fell for her. However, denial was his constant companion.
Despite his grumpiness he possessed a heart of gold. His treatment of Mara through her illness will have readers swooning. He saw beyond her illness. It never bothered him and did all he could in his power to help her and make her life comfortable. He even offered to marry her so she could afford the expensive medical treatment. His treatment of the children both his and hers will warm the hearts of readers.
Unthinkable is a beautiful story that demonstrates the beauty of a relationship with the right person. The person who has your back through the good and the bad times. It's a story of love, family and healing. Although quite the emotional read, there were several scenes which will have readers laughing. Also, there were some steamy moments which showed the couple in a different light.
Unthinkable was a solid and satisfying read. Readers looking for a heartwarming story served up with humor, romance and some steamy moments should consider adding this book to their reading list.

I really enjoyed this. It’s a hockey romance with spice. I’m so excited to read more by this author. I loved the chronic illness/disability representation and single parenthood represented. The banter was also good and had some funny moments. Highly recommend!

So I got a little confused reading this one because it took place in California more than Ohio and it’s book 2 in the series but I feel like I should’ve read this one before book 1. Even with the confusion I really loved Mara and Jack so so much.
Their kids are best friends, but Mara has had more run ins with Jack’s horrible ex so she doesn’t really know him that well. One call to the principal’s office begins to change that though. Until Jack comes up with the genius plan of them getting married to she can focus on her health while taking care of the kids and then Jack doesn’t have to worry about his crazy ex scaring off anymore nannies.
He says he can’t love, but shows mara through his actions every day that he really can. It doesn’t take much for this marriage of convenience to become very real. They had the best banter between them & now the things jack let slip in the first book make so much more sense! 😂
I have no clue who is coming next in this series but I’m hoping we get Colt next!
