I absolutely adored Jack and Mara’s story. Unthinkable is my first Dani Galliaro book and I am hooked.
The chronic illness representation in this book was perfection. The author clearly did her research. Along those lines…I’m ashamed to say that Mara being so dominant surprised me. Now don’t get me wrong, it was freaking awesome and I loved it…I guess I’m so conditioned to think someone with a chronic illness is weak (at least I am) so her character behind doors was eye opening for me in a the best way.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you to Dani Galliaro for the ARC of this book.
I thought Unbreakable had me in a chokehold, well I was sadly mistaken. This book had me invested from beginning to end. Big old bad Jack turned out to be such a softie for Mara. I wish I had half the amount of confidence Mara has. She was such a baddie. I loved it! Jack and Mara each needed each other and how their relationship dynamic progressed was absolutely amazing. I will forever recommend both Unbreakable and this one to any and all romance lovers. Phenomenal story!

I truly love a good hockey romance. One that also doesn't stick with the hyper masculine stereotype of the sport and allows the MMC to dabble in his submissive side? *chefs kiss*
What you get in this book:
-Marriage of convenience
- Super grumpy hockey player
-Trauma healing
-Divorced MCs
-Blended family
-A little parental abandonment
-And maybe someone receives a sharp poke...
I truly love that the author gave Mara a lot to represent and deal with. Her life wasn't always perfect, but she made sure she did the best with what she could do. And she was never anyone's charity case. I also enjoy the safe space she created for Jack to explore his wants a desires. Sydney can go kick rocks for that.
I am definitely very excited to check out more of Dani's books, especially the Ohio Rusties series.

This is my first novel by this author, but her other series has been on my TBR.
This story initially drew me in because of Hockey, but after meeting and really getting to know Jack and Mara, it was not the aspect of this novel that kept me turning the pages.
The prologue of the novel starts a year before the novel is set, in which we get a brief snapshot of these two before they find themselves in each other's lives in a different way. I really loved the setup to this story.
Flash forward a year; both Mara and Jack are divorced and they are each dealing with that fallout very differently. Jack has vowed never to fall in love again and Mara has vowed to fight for what she finally deserves.
What you need to know about Jack is that he is the grumpiest grump that ever grumped. He is also very much a react-first and ask-questions-later kind of guy. He is fiercely protective of everyone that he cares about, but his previous marriage has left him insecure about who he is and what he has to offer of himself. He does not feel worthy of love and affection and he has decided he will never fall in love—that is, until an unsuspecting single mother finds her way into his life.
Mara, this woman is strength personified. She has been dealt the mother of all health issues and also the most deadbeat of husbands. Her ex-husband decided that he needed to find himself and he needed to do that away from his family. Now a single mom, whose debilitating pain has her pushing herself to her limits daily, Mara has to figure out a way to navigate this new life.
Listen, I do not know why it took me so long to dig into this author, but I am happy that I have finally gotten here. The development of these two characters had me all in my feels. If there was an emotion to be felt, I connected to it. Watching Mara and Jack navigate this life they are creating is nothing short of amazing. The care and compassion that Dani takes with writing about chronic illness should be applauded. It is very clear that the writing is sensitive to those within this community.

Single parents get me every time! Jack is such a sweet asshole. Haha The family dynamics with each character were beautifully portrayed. Mara's struggle with her chronic illness was depicted with such authenticity. I appreciated how it added depth and challenges to the narrative. Their vulnerability felt genuine and relatable. The way these two united to create a family was the best! Then you add in the angst and spice. These two were off the charts in so many things.

This one surprised me with how much I liked the inclusion of the children. I'm not always a fan of kids in books unless they serve a really narrative purpose and bring at least a few laughs. Unthinkable did not disappoint on that front. Their little blended family was oh-so-cute and heartwarming.
This book is incredible before it even begins. I adore the dedication. I won't spoil it but just trust me, the book is worth the read for that reason alone.
Mara and Jack are both mature adults who act maturely and speak their minds (most of the time). I am very happy to see adult characters act their age and not as if they are in their mid-20s like I am.
Mara is a fantastic example of many chronic illnesses making life harder but not stopping you from living your life happily. She has hEDS, dysautonomia, POTS, and MCAS. She also has some fantastic emo tattoos which is pretty fantastic. Needless to say, don't underestimate her.
This book has a number of spicy scenes that do include fdom moments. If spice is not your thing, I do not recommend this one.
Overall if you are seeking a hockey romance with grown adults who have adorable families I most definitely suggest this one. It also has a bit of queer rep and a lot of chronic illness rep which is great to see.
I received this book as part of Dani's arc team. My review is honest and voluntary.

Well, yall, the time has come for yet another book review. And let me tell you, Dani Galliaro did it again. The level of realness in her stories is like nothing I've ever read.
Unthinkable follows our Goodest Boy Jack Leroy and Mara, single mom with several very real, sometimes debilitating chronic illnesses. Their story is a bit different starting out as a marriage of convenience. Will it become love? Is Jack capable of loving again after his ex broke him?
I absolutely adored Jack and Mara's story from the realness to the kinks, there's a bit of everything. It's funny. Its sweet. And, at times, a bit tense. I CANNOT recommend Dani Galliaro enough.
Thank you to @danigalliaroauthor and @happilybookedpr for my chance to ARC read and review as well as be part of Dani's street team 💜

Dani… I am obsessed!!! This unconventional love story really did it for me! The unwavering support Jack wants to give Mara without strings was beautiful to see. Gotta love a tough guy who is secretly the biggest teddy bear for the ones he cares for. SWOON. But I loved having the DualPOV as I was able to really see the inner workings of both characters. It was good to see their motivations & desires. Great job!!

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶
Unthinkable by Dani Galliaro is, unthinkable. I am in love with it. Jack and Mara are so open and vulnerable. They find solace in one another and give eachother room to grow.
What I love most about it, is how relatable everything is. The ebb and flow of Mara's chronic illnesses and how they flare and affect her. Jack being a protective asshole and being willing to throw hands for those he cares about. Even the marriage of convenience trope is reasonable! Mara straight up laughs in his face when Jack suggests it and then they essentially make a pros/cons list for it.
I don't think I'll ever shut up about this one, I hope everyone's ready for me to be insufferable about it
