It was hard to get into this book. The story is so interesting but a lot of it was written in a very confusing way.

I might lack the proper knowledge in Dostoyevsky’s style (it’s the first book of his that I read), Nikolai Gogol or Russian literature to appreciate this work fully but I understand the confusing part might have been on purpose as Golyadkin (our narrator) is supposed to be mentally ill and confused himself.

I might try to go back to this book later in life.

It's not F.D.'s best work, definitely lackluster when compared to his other works like C&P or The Idiot. But it's good for die hard fans to read more of his less popular works

Golyadkin is so real because I would also be in a constant state of anxiety

The reading experience was insightful and enjoyable at best yet confusing at worst . Definitely one of the harder Dostoyevsky works to read for me from a purely language perspective : could have been my translation .
