Ey, ist halt einfach ein echt abgefucktes Buch, komplett over the top, aber halt auch einfach mega gut zu lesen.
Ich habe mich oftmals nicht mal bei diesen super genauen Duftbeschreibungen gelangweilt (manchmal aber schon, daher die Bewertung).
Auf jeden Fall ein Erlebnis das gelesen zu haben.

Unique? Yes. Disturbing? A resounding yes. Would I recommend it? Not really. I have fairly eclectic tastes in literature and this novel was unnecessarily disgusting. I don't care for gratuitous violence and this exemplified it.
Recommended to me prior to a trip to Germany because the author is German however it takes place in France, from slums to a perfume shop, to a cave, then a village. If you're looking for a book by a German author that has a setting in Germany, keep looking. It you prefer books with some sort of redemption, keep looking.
So why any stars? I guess it is well written.

What the fuck did I just read!? But really good writing! Like seriously the writing was so captivating and even though I was pretty disturbed I couldn't stop! SLIGHT SPOILER! I like that the author didn't make his motives sexual in any way, it made it that much more creepy and unsettling, I think it was a really good move.
What a strange, strange book! I’m pretty sure if the writing and descriptions were not as beautiful as they were I would have placed it right back on my book shelf without a second thought. I don’t think I’ve ever squinted so hard at a book, trying to understand why I was enjoying it. Having said that, this is also probably the first time that a ‘horror’ book made me laugh out loud.

Another book I have mixed feelings on. However, my issues could be a result of the translation.
This book is definitely very unique, however, it’s not as horrifying as people have told you.
There are sections of this book that are horrendously boring, and just pages after, the text is extremely interesting. The writing style isn’t fully consistent in my humble opinion.
To be honest, I’m disappointed. This book has been on my tbr for nearly 3 years. However, I am still glad I read it, although it does not have the Halloween spookiness I was hoping for.
