I love her blog, and I love this book. She pulls tricks out of her hat to turn complicated into simple. I've never had a recipe from Deb Perelman fail.
As a food blogger myself, I had to buy this cookbook since it was written by one, also. I found it to be accessible with a nice, delicious-looking collection of recipes. Her recipe for Broccoli Salad is almost identical to the one I use, and I know it's great.
For some reason, it's taken me this long to be converted to a Smitten Kitchen follower, and I have no idea why. I think I had it in my head that Smitten Kitchen recipes were too fussy, complicated, and snooty for me, but I think I just wasn't mentally and emotionally ready for Deb Perelman yet. Every recipe is easy to follow, accompanied by beautiful photography, and preceded by a charming and hilarious paragraph or two written by Perelman. I absolutely love this cookbook and, to date, I haven't been let down by a single Smitten Kitchen recipe. This is one of my kitchen essentials.
There is nothing in here that I don't want to eat. Deb Perelman has even talked me into the recipes I was initially unsure of. She is such an engaging writer! I can't wait to get cracking on some of these delicious dishes post-Thanksgiving.
Another of my go-to cookbooks. Especially when I'm in the mood to try something new and adventurous. Her recipes (both in the book and on her blog) are easy to follow and always delicious.
The pictures are simply beautiful too. I wish my versions looked this pretty.

The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook is stuffed with gorgeous, delicious recipes, and everything I've made so far has been filed under Repeat Eats, especially the Black Bean Ragout and Mushroom Bourguignon. I had high expectations for the SK book, since I've been following the blog for years, and my hopes have been exceeded.
Dinner chapter was a little lacking, but the breakfasts make up for it! The recipes look so tasty and healthful. We've loved in particular the Peach and Sour Cream Pancakes.

A thing of beauty. Currently contemplating cooking my way through this book, one recipe per week (minus the meat things - not enough of an audience for those here). Gorgeous photos, amazing sounding food, and stories to go with each that make me wish I actually knew Deb in person.
This book is lovely. Deb is as funny and practical as she is on her blog, and there were only a handful of recipes I didn't want to make immediately (I will never understand why people want to ruin good apples by cooking them). It hits the menu starting next week and I can't wait!
