Original review
The Burning Shadow is the second book in the Origin series and continues the story of Evie and Luc. Origin is a spin-off series of the Lux series, but you don’t have to read the Lux series to be able to read the Origin series.
The Burning Shadow was yet another amazing book by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m kind of ashamed to admit that I had it on my shelf for a while and I don’t know why I waited this long to read this book?! The Burning Shadow was such a good book and I just love reading about Luc and Evie, and the other characters from the Origin and Lux series!
Evie’s been through a lot and she discovered some secrets in The Darkest Star, but she was definitely not prepared for all the secrets in The Burning Shadow. So much happened in TBS and I don’t know how she’s still able to deal with all that stuff. She’s such a strong character and I just love her. Luc, my handsome origin, I cannot get enough of him. He’s just so funny and weird, and just perfect for Evie!
So many crazy things happened in The Burning Shadow and I just really need the sequel, like right now. I have so many questions, there were so many secrets and crazy stories… The Burning Shadow is just such an addictive read and it was hard to put this book down. But I didn’t expect anything else from one of my favourite authors. I also really liked the Marvel, Harry Potter etc. references, it was just so cute!

Not as good as the first book. This just lost some steam for me, kind of the same problem keeps happening and I was not excited to read it as much as the first book. I do love Luc and the fact that they were basically in love with each other their whole life, but the whole plot seems a bit confusing and unorganized
If I could give it more stars I would!
But please god, help me contend with my emotions and that cliffhanger!
Like, I can't contain my meltdown and rage over that huge bit of knowledge at the end, because I now want to climb into the story and go whoop some ass!
How am I supposed to wait so long for book 3?!

With the big threat dealt with, it should be smooth sailing for Evie now. Sure, there is that the whole bombshell of truth that came out and an annoying group of Luxen- hating classmates but really, how bad could that all get?
This second instalment starts right where the last one left off which made me very happy because I didn’t want to miss any of the relationship growing between Evie and Luc. Evie’s journey to figure out who she is now and what she can do is very well developed and intriguing. Plus, the whole Diesel storyline is just too darn cute for words.

Yeah, wow, this book was so fantastic! It answered some old and new questions, and asked some more! Can't wait to see where it's going to go in the (final?) book!

Oh, my my! I don’t know how I’m going to wait until October for the final book to come out and know how everything it’s going to end after the ending of this book, because I don’t think I’ll be able to function. That was such a great sequel that kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time, and I think I enjoyed it even more than the first installment.
I was so happy to see these characters again. They made quite a lasting impression on me while reading The Darkest Star, so seeing them again made my heart really warm. I have to say I found a few similarities between this sequel and some of the things that happened in the Lux series (especially when it came to the characters and their backstories and romantic relationships), but I still really enjoyed their arcs and interactions a lot.

Solid book. I read this before reading the Lux series and it was easy to pick up where this book started.
On the anxiety!! You will be on pins and needles as one revelation after another is dropped! I love Evie and Luc and their love/friendship. I love that we are able to see past characters from the Lux Series. I can't pin point anything that dragged in the story. It picks up right where the Darkest Star leaves off. If anything while we had some questions answered we are left with more questions. There are heartbreaking moments that I could have done without but all in all I love this book and this series. Can't wait for book three!
