I'm so invested emotionally in this story, there's no way I'm going back now. Easily becoming a favorite series, although yet unfinished *dies* I'm told the next book ends in a horrible cliffhanger (freaking hate those!) so I'll suffer for at least a year *sight*

omg omg I want the next book NOW

ugh i love luc so much

I love this book series so much. I love the characters, I love the story and I love the way it’s written. Definitely a must read.

The burning shadow is the second part of the origin trilogy. It is the direct sequel to The darkest star.

When more and more people get sick and some even die because of this, the Luxen are blamed for this. Something that is not possible according to Evie, Luc and the other luxuries and origins.
When a classmate of Evie in class suddenly has an attack, it turns out he also has the disease. During the attack, he becomes extremely strong and fast. He even develops black eyes with white pupils before dying.

April, one of the leaders of the school's anti-lux movement, decides to use this news and the death at school as a new cause for a protest. Evie decides to stick up for the luxuries. She takes a picture of April. When she sees this photo again a few days later, she notices something. April appears to be made up of two figures, a human and a shadow.
Together with Luc, Zoe, Deamon, Dawson and Kent, Evie sets out to investigate.

What will they discover? What's the matter with April? Where does this disease come from? And what if Evie turns out to have the disease too?

The burning shadow is a delightful sequel to this trilogy. In the story many events and matters are further elaborated, such as Evie's background and her relationship with Luc. Many new characters are also introduced, making the story even more complete. Remarkably, in this story there is more violence and love than in The darkest star.

Just like in the first part, the writing style is nice and smooth and I flew through the story. It really is one of those books where you want to know which way it will go and how it will end. Wonderful when a book has these characteristics!

The story is continuously in a good tension arc, making it interesting to read. The burning shadow even ends with a cliffhanger, encouraging the reader to also read The brightest night. It is expected to be released in the autumn of 2020. Unfortunately a little while longer.

I give The burning shadow 4.5 stars.

This was AMAZING!

ONTO THE BRIGHTEST NIGHT

This book is epic. We finally get to see something that is more powerful than Luc and nobody is quite sure what to do about that. The war between Luxen and humanity is about to break out and so much is about to go down. Along with finding out the government is still doing experiments, we also find out a few other things that we didn't see coming. There are a ton of twists and turns. Luc and Evie are joined by some of our favorites from the series. We also get to see Luc show off some of his badass powers that we didn't know he had. I can't wait for the next one.

Oh, holy alien babies! I had been waiting for TBS since I finished The Darkest Star. There are more Luc and Evie and the other characters in the story that we have come to love…and hate. BUT there are also cameos from my favorite crew from the Lux series. I don’t have to say much for you to figure out who they are.

At the end of the TDS, Evie discovered a secret about herself and Luc that left us hanging. Well, TBS picks up right where it left off and explains some things, but brings up many more questions for the next book. I’ve read it twice, but I need to re-read the series to make sure I haven’t missed anything.

You fall more in love with Luc and understand why he does some of the things he does. And then sometimes, I didn’t understand him at all. #grilledcheesegate

Armentrout didn’t fail to deliver another action-packed book in this world.

The Burning Shadow Review on K-Books

The Burning Shadow was one of my most anticipated releases of 2019. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, so you can imagine my utter excitement when I got an ARC. My love for this world has been building and getting stronger for years. From the moment I read Obsidian back in 2011, I was in love with this sci-fi world and it's characters and today it's stronger than ever. The Burning Shadow was everything that I could have wanted and more. I loved every single second of this book.

The Burning Shadow picks up where The Darkest Star left off, with Evie and Luc still trying to recover her memories from 'before'. Just when they thought they had uncovered the extent of Evie's moms secrets, they are struck by more revelations... each one more surprising and dangerous as the last. There is a virus happening and the Luxen are caught in the middle of it. Can Evie and Luc figure out what is going on before there are more fatalities?

I loved this book so much and Jennifer L Armentrout just cemented herself as my favourite author ever. I have read every single book Jen has wrote and just when I think that she can't surprise me any more, she writes this beast of a book. And I mean that... it is a beast... it's over 700 pages!! I think this may well be her longest book and I loved every single word of it. Right from the start I was completely in love with the world and characters all over again and once I hit the half way mark I couldn't put it down.

The Burning Shadow was in my opinion... perfection! It was filled with all my favourite Lux characters and the new ones I fell in love with back in The Darkest Star. It was filled with swoon-worthy romance, jaw-dropping surprises and heart-pounding action. I loved every single moment of it and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3. If you haven't started this series before, I highly recommend it. Even if sci-fi isn't your thing... I promise this will be. Absolutely stunning!

The suspense in this book made it so hard to put down. I wanted to call in sick to work and do nothing but read it all damn day. I'm so happy to be back in the Luxen universe. I love the man Luc is growing up to be. My heart is broken over the losses we suffer in this one though. I can't wait to find out what exactly Evie is and what her powers are and if she can learn to control them without killing everyone. I'm also getting the biggest crush on Grayson. He should try Blue Razz Blow Pops though. I can't wait to see what the next book has in store for us! I hope we get to see more of the original characters too!
