Not sure how to feel - I thought some parts were so beautifully and vividly written, other parts felt like being hit over the head with a hammer with the bluntness of the writing - sometimes it’s better to let the reader work things out. I thought the end almost ruined it - Paul was already evil enough and Frances should have realised that and run without the big reveal of his secret past

Frances’s apathy was never fully explored beyond the stereotypical “She’s young and depressed and listless.” Which made it hard to understand her relationship with these abusive men on a deeper level. The twist in the end could have also been explored more considering how traumatizing it must have been for Frances. The end just seemed rush.
