A beautiful 'fictional' memoir about community paranoia and betrayal, watching the lived experience of god and folklore die and be replaced by open conflict in the streets, the distance between a son and mother, the envy of a father who cannot overcome his discontent, and boyhood when things just don't add up and you can't let it go uncovered

Big fan

Sad but lovely exploration of generational trauma and Irish history.

I borrowed this book from the Phibsborough Public Library in Dublin. I fear to return it dripping, empathy and tears have saturated it. The next reader will dry it, and return it sopping with themself.
