reading this was very pointless but i just wanted more magnus chase universe content (especially alex) and was obviously praying the whole time for an alex pov. i liked that it was short and sweet (yay goodreads reading goal) and somewhat entertaining. i also liked alex. and sam. and tj. and amir. and most of the characters. and alex. did i mention alex

This book was okay, it wasn't bad per say, but wasn't as good as some of his other works, overall still a 4 star though.
I loved seeing some of my favourite characters which probably carried the book to be honest, and I laughed quite a lot. The endings were okay or fun/interesting in their own ways but as each plot was different, I struggled on how to actually rate the plot.

A quick, fun read tho.

Magnus Chase is my favorite RR series so far, but this one was just...not interesting to me at all!

The pov's were all the same thought process and a small part of me knew, growing up, that these books were for the younger Audiences but this is the first one that really felt like it to me.

Ricks signature humour is still present throughout the book. However, short stories aren't Riordan's strong suit. They often have large plots shortened into a couple of pages, which can easily confuse someone if they plan to read it once. It will take someone a couple of reads in order to fully understand the book. However, it was lighthearted and a great way to relieve the hole that the Magnus Chase series left after it concluded. Personally, all of Rick's best works are only trilogies. I'm glad he is still making content for them, however (see the Brooklyn House Manuel for the Kane Chronicles). Overall, it was still enjoyable, but the plots were a little too ambitious.
